چکیده

A summary of some recent studies in jet physics is given. Topics include leading particle production in light flavor events in e + e − annihilations, an analytical treatment of gluon and quark jets at the next-to-next-to-next-to-leading order (3NLO), and various studies performed at LEP and HERA involving separated gluon and quark jets. 1 Leading particle production in separated light quark events Separated charm (c) and bottom (b) quark events have been well studied in e + e − annihilations. c and b quarks are mostly produced at the electro-weak vertex in e + e − → qq → hadrons events, in which the primary quark q is c or b, and are relatively easy to identify. In contrast, separated up (u), down (d) and strange (s) events have not been much studied. u, d and s quarks are copiously produced during jet development, making events in which they are produced as primary quarks more difficult to identify.

Qcd Description of Angular Correlations

We review the predictions on angular correlations and their recent experimental tests at LEP and HERA. Power behaviour of correlation functions appear for large angles and reflect the underlying fractal structure in jet evolution. Asymptotic scaling laws work rather well for the low momentum particles. For angular correlations the predictions work at least qualitatively, sometimes quantitativel...

Q-Anomaly at HERA and Supersymmetry

We discuss the recently observed excess of high Q2 neutral current deep inelastic scattering events at HERA in the light of supersymmetry with broken R-parity. We find more than one possible solution. We consider the possibilities for testing these hypotheses at HERA, the TEVATRON and at LEP. One lepton-number violating operator can account for both the HERA data and the four-jet anomaly seen b...

Could we learn more about HERA high Q 2 anomaly from LEP 200 and TEVATRON ? R - parity violation scenario

The excess of high Q 2 events at HERA reported in the early 1997 by H1 and ZEUS collaborations has become the subject of extensive studies in the framework of several models related to new physics. Here we concentrate on the most promising , from our point of view, model describing HERA anomaly. We update our previous analysis [3] and take into account new HERA statistics of the 1997 year. HERA...

Some aspects of extracting the information on the structure of virtual photons from jet production in ep and e + e − collisions are discussed. 1 Virtual particles-why, where and how? Measuring the dependence of the structure of the photon at short distance on its virtuality provides new information on strong interaction dynamics. The results of first attempts in this direction have recently bee...

Global Comparisons of Jet Photoproduction Data

We present results of a global tuning of general purpose Monte Carlo models to published measurements of p ! jets at HERA and ! jets at LEP and TRISTAN. The principle free parameters in the tuning are the simulation of the underlying event and the choice of photon structure. Several combinations of models are ruled out by the data.
